How much soil carbon revenue could your farm earn?

Fill in our Carbon Calculator to find out.

  • Area

This should be the farmable area that you would consider entering into the programme, typically defined as Arable, Temporary Grassland or Permanent Grassland by Rural Payments.

Ungrazeable features such as scrub, arable field margins, and parcels of woodland usually aren't eligible.

You should also consider the ability to make regenerative management changes on each field that you enter, as carbon credits can only be generated from positive management changes that build soil carbon, rather than simply continuing with your current practices.

Regenerate Outcomes is suitable for farms over 100 hectares.

  • Ambition

Carbon credits are generated by increasing your soil carbon stocks. The greater the positive regenerative management changes you make, typically the more carbon you're able to sequester compared to business-as-usual.

However, soils are highly variable. A given management change (eg. transition from ploughing to direct drilling) will yield different results between fields on the same farm, and between different farms.

You may earn more or less credits than another farmer who has made the same regenerative management changes, simply due to your context and how your soils respond.

  • How much could you earn?

This is an indicative range of how much you could earn through Regenerate Outcomes per year, with payments made every 1-3 years subject to sale of credits in rolling marketing periods and periodic verification events.

This assumes a verified carbon credit price of £60, and the values shown are the 67% share of credit value retained by the farmer.

Regenerate Outcomes retains the other 33%, subject to a minimum soil carbon increase, to cover the programme costs of soil carbon sampling, mentoring and credit verification.

This is for demonstration purposes only. Regenerate Outcomes cannot guarantee the soil carbon sequestration rates achieved on your farm from given farming practices, nor the credit price achieved during any marketing period.

  • “Regenerate Outcomes appears to be one of the best carbon programmes currently available with a very strong mentoring programme backed up by global leaders in regenerative farming practices.”

  • “I've read a lot about regen and Regenerate Outcomes seem to be the best, with most experience, knowledge and understanding of what's involved in doing this, and the most proactive in the field in UK”

  • “Regenerate Outcomes provides the opportunity to generate income while improving soil health and sequestering carbon, alongside the benefits of moving the farming business towards a more regenerative operation and, hopefully, an improved trading position.”

  • “Regenerate Outcomes appeals because it’s important to be able to work with a company that understands our values and aims, which can help improve our farming system”

  • “We want to work with Regenerate Outcomes to help improve soil health and farm resilience, to benefit from knowledge sharing and the guidance of their team, and to try and access a revenue stream we are not yet exploiting.”

  • “After listening to a talk about Regenerate Outcomes, it seemed an obvious choice seeing as this seems to be the direction we aim to carry forward the business. I like how the Regenerate Outcomes programme aims to produce practical and meaningful carbon credits as opposed to current prediction models. Additionally, the level of support and 'no upfront cost' type strategy seems to really appeal to us and is a good philosophy for the partnership.”

  • “We are interested in building soil health on the farm. We would benefit from the mentor support that comes with the Regenerate Outcomes programme to aid our decision making and understand what is possible in the short, medium and long term. Having a verified baseline is crucial to evidencing this journey to healthier soils.”
