Join leading names in regenerative farming at our Soil Health Workshops

Regenerate Outcomes is bringing together leading names in regenerative farming for our Soil Health Workshops in June.

Join us in Perthshire, the Cotswolds and Lancashire for two days of practical insights into building healthy soil to grow profits and improve crop and livestock performance.

The events will also feature discussions with our host farmers, including BBC presenter Adam Henson at Cotswold Farm Park, in Gloucestershire.

The Soil Health Workshops will be led by:

World-renowned regen farmer Dr Allen Williams

A sixth generation farmer from South Carolina, Allen is one of the biggest names in the regenerative farming movement, having featured in films including Kiss the Ground, Soil Carbon Cowboys and, most recently, the documentary Roots so Deep.

Allen is one of the founding members of Understanding Ag alongside regenerative farming pioneer Gabe Brown - the author of Dirt to Soil.

Soil Farmer of the Year 2023 Stuart Johnson

Fifth generation farmer Stuart began using strip tillage on West Wharmley Farm, near Hexham, 10 years ago in a drive to cut costs.

It was the beginning of a transition to regenerative farming which has seen a reduction in the farm’s reliance on fertiliser, chemicals and other external inputs, while increasing resilience to fluctuations in the weather and economy.

Soil health consultant Kyle Richardville

Kyle grew up on a 2000 hectare arable, fruit and vegetable farm in the “corn belt” in Indiana and caught the “soil bug” while studying soil microbiology and food nutrition.

He is now a soil health consultant for Understanding Ag, helping farmers across Britain develop tailored soil health plans.

Meet our host farmers

Alex and Jane Brewster at Rotmell Farm, Perthshire, Thursday 5th June - Friday 6th June

Alex Brewster and his family have been managing the landscape at Rotmell Farm since 1982, in beautiful Perthshire, Scotland.

The farm dates back to the 1790s and was originally built as a show farm by the Duchess of Atholl.

The Brewsters farm cattle, sheep, hens and bees as well as a small pig operation. The premise is to vertically stack enterprises with each operation supporting the other. As much of the produce is directly marketed off farm as possible.

Today they are using practices which are at the forefront of regenerative agriculture.

Alex is a 2016 Nuffield Scholar and 2020 UK Soil Farmer of the Year.

Farm vet Lee-Anne Oliver will also join us at Rotmell to discuss the impact of regenerative agriculture on livestock health and performance.

Lee-Anne has worked as a farm vet in the north east of England since 2008. She holds Advanced Practitioner status for both cattle and sheep and is the co-author of The Veterinary Book for Beef Farmers.

Adam Henson and Duncan Andrews at Cotswold Farm Park, Gloucestershire, Monday 9th June - Tuesday 10th June

Our Soil Health Workshop in England will be hosted at Cotswold Farm Park, which is run by Adam Henson and his partner Duncan Andrews.

Adam is one of the best known faces in British farming, combining agriculture with his TV presenting career on BBC’s Countryfile. He also hosts a popular YouTube channel and is the author of five books.

The workshop will include a conversation with Adam and Duncan about the challenges and opportunities of improving soil health at the farm.

We will also be joined by Wiltshire farmer George Hosier, who farms 625 hectares at Wexcombe Farm, near Marlborough, with a beef suckler herd and arable crops.

George will discuss his regenerative journey over the last 10 years and share advice to improve soil health on a mixed farming operation.

Nat and Roger Marsden, Bucks Farm, Lancashire, Wednesday 11th June to Thursday 12th June

Nat and Roger Marsden breed Luing cattle and Easydam and Cheviot sheep near the Forest of Bowland.

The brothers farm in partnership and have been transitioning into regenerative agriculture for the last five years.

Cattle grazing at Bucks Farm

Bucks Farm is an upland farm with a mixture of owned and tenanted land which runs to around 1000 acres.

The brothers farm a pedigree herd of Luing cattle which has been largely outwintered for a number of years. The ewe flock has been reduced and is transitioning from an inside lambing mule flock to a more maternal composite outdoor lambing flock.

Nat and Roger will join the workshop to discuss the challenges and opportunities of regenerative livestock breeding.
